Services provided by MHAOW:

  • Emergency Psychiatric Medication Program - free, one time (maximum 30 day supply) emergency psychotropic medications for indigent patients. Made possible by grants received from the White-Wilson Community Foundation and the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Dept.

  • MHA Scholarships for Treatment Professionals. 

  • May is Mental Health Month newspaper ad honoring treatment providers 

  • Homeless Veteran's Stand Downs -

    were created to provide services for unmet needs on the local level. From tangible goods—including sleeping bags, socks, personal care items and boots—to services—including haircuts, dental care, flu shots, mental health screenings and legal services—Stand Downs strive to connect veterans to essential items and services that are delivered by the people who know these veterans best: service providers in our community.

  • Support groups - provides support groups information. Sponsors a bi-polar (manic/depressive)(DBSA) support group, Family to Family groups, consumer awareness council, and peer to peer classes. 

  • Advance Psychiatric Directives.

  • Christmas Project Cheer - provides holiday gifts and personal care to 600 persons in hospitals and treatment facilities in Okaloosa and Walton Counties. 
  • Professional Speaker's Bureau - provides speakers on mental health issues for groups, clubs, organizations, etc. 

  • Treatment referral and resource assistance. 

  • Okaloosa/Walton Homeless Continuum of Care.

  • Ombudsman/Advocacy Services - provides mental health system navigation and grievance investigation. 

  • Mental health career counseling. 

  • Peer Specialist Services 

  • MHA Recovery Programs, consumer services, and monthly calendars. 
    Depression, anxiety and substance abuse clinical screenings - free, year-round screenings available in the MHA offices by appointment.

  • Community resource and services.

  • Advocacy on National and state levels for improved mental health legislation. 

  • Mental Health and Substance Abuse Resources. 

  • NAMI (National Alliance of Mentally Ill) Family to Family Classes
